Sunburn - Causes, Symptoms & Remedy

Sunburn is what happen when you have too much sun exposure. Most burns are mild in pain affect only the outer layer of skin. UV rays can cause unseen damage to the skin. Excessive sunburns will result in accelerated aging of the skin and cancer. Symptoms usually appear within several hours.
Causes of Sunburn
- Excessive exposure to UV rays.
- Sunburns result when melanin can’t protect the body enough due to the amount of UV rays overly-exposed.
- Traveling to altitudes run a higher risk of being sunburned.
- Doxycycline can make a person more susceptible to get sunburn.
- Fair skin types run a greater risk to getting sunburn.
- Sunburn arise because the body is unable protect the skin.
Symptoms of Sunburn
- Peeling of the skin.
- Feeling weak.
- Getting the chills.
- Blisters.
- Dizziness and headaches.
- Severe symptoms are getting a fever, feeling nauseous, and rashes.
- The skin can swell.
- Blistering.
Remedies for Sunburn
- Use ibuprofen to reduce the pain from sunburn.
- Use dry cloth bandages for blisters.
- Take a cool bath, or keep the skin wet.
- If your case is mild drink plenty of fluids, take some aspirin, ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory.
- In severe cases, or when a person goes into shook, always take patients to a burn unit at the nearest hospital for aggressive skin treatments. These will include intravenous fluids, electrolyte management.
