- Dehydration of the disc
- Loss of flexibility
There are 12 pairs of vertebrae in the back. These 24 vertebrae hold the spine in place and protects it. In a healthier state, they act as shock absorbents.
The discs in the lower back suffer from dehydration if a person is sitting for long hours and doing a desk job. It reduces the flexibility of the spine and lower back area. In this condition, if the person attempts to lift a heavy object (like furniture) his or her disc may slip or rupture. It leads to severe lower back pain and leg pain. The slip in the disc may also happen after a few days (or months) from lifting the heavy object until the person sneezes.
It can be treated by doing some light stretches and exercises that can make the spine alright from top to bottom. It is advisable to go to a doctor in the case of intolerable pain.
