Dieting could lead to hair loss

Models walked down the catwalks at London Fashion Week recently and gave birth to the debate whether models are too thin inline with the controversy at Madrid’s Fashion Week where models were banned on Body Mass Index.

If you are not convinced with shortcomings of extreme dieting from above then there is some more bad news for you. “Crash Diets” generally leads to malnutrition and dystrophy due to which hair loss could happen. Normal life span of a hair follicle is 5-7 years but due to insufficient nutrition it goes off early. Hair loss usually shows signs of loss 2-3 months after one go for extreme diets. By the time people realize 30% of the hair follicles could be damaged.

When the intake of nutrition is limited, body supplies this to heart and brain first whereas hair and skin gets it share in the last.  Carbohydrates, protein and fat are essential for the body even when one is dieting. Balanced diet, exercise and healthy dietary control are few of the better options for weight control. So, next time you plan for something similar, think of baldhead.
