What is the main cause of hair thinning?

My hairs are thin and there are not much hair on my scalp. I wanted to know as to what could be the possible causes of hair thinning?

    I think thinning of hair is caused when the fallen hairs are not replaced by the new hairs. The hair follicles are left vacant and old hairs are not replaced. The primary causes of this could be stress, poor health, harmonal changes or inadequate blood supply to the scalp.
