H1NI is causing much concern all over the world. The flu-like symptoms affecting the patient suffering from the new virus need to be taken care of medically in order to present the virus from spreading to others. The illness is expected to remain for some more time. People need to be able to identify the symptoms in order to take necessary precautions. After all it may not be ordinary flu, but the swine flu!
What are flu like symptoms?
- Fever.
- Sore throat.
- Cough.
- Stuffy or runny nose.
- Headaches.
- Body aches.
- Fatigue.
- Chills.
- Vomiting.
- Diarrhea
People of all ages are affected by the swine flu. People at a higher risk of serious infection are those above 65 years old, pregnant women, children below 5 years of age, people with chronic illnesses and diseases such as heart problem, diabetes asthma etc.
What should one do when one is affected by flu like symptoms?
- One must avoid contact others. It is better not to socialize.
- Better to stay at home in the initial period and move out when there are no symptoms for 24 hours.
- Use a tissue while sneezing or coughing and throw it in a trash can after using it.
- Seek medical care.
- Emergency medical care facilities are also available.
- Antiviral drugs prescribed by medical professional should be used only.
Any flu-like symptoms should be properly examined by medical professionals to ensure that one is not suffering from H1N1 virus. One must not assume it is ordinary flu.
