    Protecting the ankle

    • Protecting the sprained ankle might be one of the best way to treat instantly. Don’t ever make a trial to walk when Your ankle is sprained.
    • You can protect the sprained ankle by brace or immobilizing with a splint.
    • Do not try to put any pressure on the sprained ankle. You can minimize the risk and recover soon if you protect your ankle when sprained.

    Resting the sprained ankle

    • Never strain your sprained ankle. It is advisable to rest your sprained ankle.
    • If you have a minor sprain in your ankle, then you can rest it for few days for soon recovery of the sprained ankle.
    • You can perform small exercises like swimming and cycling for soon recovery in case of a minor ankle sprain.

    Icing the Sprained Ankle

    • One of the best way to treat the injuries. Icing helps in minimizing the swelling that occurs in a sprained ankle.
    • Icing can be done many times in a day. But it is important to remember that icing should not be done for more than 20min.
    • In case, if icing is done for more than 20min, then this might cause a harm to your ankle rather than doing good.

    Compression

    • Compression is advised only when there is no elevation in your sprained ankle.
    • Compression might not be necessary all the time. When you need a light compression in your ankle, you can go for the simple ace wrap.

    Elevation

    • Elevation helps in minimizing the swelling in the sprained ankle. To reduce the pain, you can place pillows underneath your ankle and it also helps you to be comfortable. This can be another best way to treat the sprained ankle.
