How to Avoid Allergy Indoor Triggers

suryaBy suryaSeptember 24, 2010002 Mins Read

This article will teach you how to avoid allergy indoor triggers.

    – Dust mites

Dust mites are one of the most common causes for allergies. They emit proteins that the allergic person breaths in and gets an allergic reaction. This causes a condition that is hard to treat because dust is always around in our homes.

Avoiding dust mites can be achieved by washing the bedding frequently in hot water every week. Comforters and blankets should be washed once or twice a month. Pillows can also harbor a lot of dust. If a pillow cannot be washed, it can be placed in a freezer for 24 hours. The dryness of the freezer will kill the dust mites.

Hypoallergenic bedding is a good way to avoid dust mites. Bedding can also be encased in a dust mite proof casing, which is a good way to avoid having dust mites living in them.

    – Mold

The best way to avoid mold is to keep the home well ventilated and clean bathroom areas regularly. Bleach is a good way of getting rid of mold.

    – Animal dander

This is often found in homes with pets. If the pet cannot be removed from the house completely, there are other measures that can be taken to limit exposure. Do not allow pets in bed or furniture. Limit your contact with the pet. Avoid using carpets in the home. Using a HEPA filter is one way of avoiding airborne particles of animal fur from getting in your lungs.

    – Other ways to live with allergies

There are other problems that allergic people often have when it comes to indoor air. Sometimes people have to breathe in tobacco smoke, smoke from ovens or other pollutants. These are reasons for the fact that allergy symptoms get worse. While they do not cause allergies per say, they do cause irritation of the airways in sensitive people which will help allergy symptoms to come about. This is why these pollutants should be avoided.
