    Effects of Chantix — Side-effects, Precautions

    Chantix is a product designed to help people with smoking cessation. It is commonly prescribed to many people who are in the process of quitting smoking. But there are chances of there being some undesirable effects of Chantix like nausea, constipation and drowsiness in some cases. These are usually minor side-effects that go away easily. But, there are also certain precautions that you have to take, especially if you are suffering from depression, are pregnant or nursing, etc.

    Side-effects of Chantix
    There are some common side-effects of Chantix. If you experience any of these, there is no reason to worry.

    • Drowsiness
    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Constipation
    • Gas

    These effects are fairly common. Most people who use this product tend to have these effects. There are some other effects that you may experience which your doctor will be able to tell you about.

    There are some precautions that you need to keep in mind if you are planning to take Chantix. These will also help you avoid any undesirable or adverse side-effects from using this product.

    • You will mostly experience nicotine withdrawal symptoms, irrespective of if you take Chantix or not. Using this product will not reduce those symptoms.
    • You should let your doctor know if you suffer from kidney problem or are under dialysis treatment. You may be prescribed a lower dosage.
    • If you suffer from depression or other psychological conditions, using this product may make it worse. Keep your doctor informed about these.
    • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to have a baby, let your doctor know. Your dosage and other factors will depend on these.

    These are some precautions that will help you avoid any problems and complications while using Chantix. Keeping these in mind would be a good idea if you are quitting and planning to use Chantix as a smoking cessation aid.
