    Implantable Contact Lenses

    Implantable contact lenses (ICLs) are the permanent lenses which can be used for eye correction purposes. These lenses are also known as phanik ICLS. The function of these permanent contact lenses is very much similar to external lenses the only difference is that permanent lenses will be placed inside the eye for vision correction. Implantable contact lenses are for those people who are not eligible for the laser vision therapy.

    Types Of Implantable Contact Lenses:
    There are basically two types of implantable contact lenses. These includes:

    • Verisyse: This implantable contact lenses are made up of acrylic called polymethylmethacrylate.
    • Visian ICL: This implantable contact lens is made up of a surgical blend of collagen and copolymer called Collamer.

    Process Of Fixing Implantable Contact Lenses:

    Implantable contact lenses are inserted inside the eye with the help of a small incision in the cornea. These lenses are placed behind the iris and in front of the natural lens of the eye. The lenses of implantable contact are thin and pliable which can are known to be a better option for laser therapy. This therapy proves to very beneficial for those who are suffering from acute myopia and which can not be corrected by the laser therapy. This therapy is admired because it has the capability of treating the condition up to 95% and with minimum pain. Moreover the recovery time of this surgery is also very less. So it is most desired way of curing eye corrections.

    Benefits Of Implantable Contact Lens:
    The benefits of ICLs can be summarized in the following points:

    • Severe degrees of refractive errors in the eye which can not be corrected with laser can be corrected using these lenses. Moreover the implantation of these lenses is easy and pain less.
    • Unlike laser therapy the process of these implanted lenses can reversed and lenses can be drawn back whenever desired.
    • These implantable lenses are very safe and gives you the desired results.

      I am very short sighted and have an astigmatism is this type of surgery possible for my condition? I wore contact lenses for 30 years, but find the vision is not as good as it use to be and my eyes do dry out, so cannot wear them as much as I use to.
