    Adenocarcinoma lung cancer is a form of non small cell lung cancer. About 80% of lung cancers are non small cell cancers and among them 50% are adenocarcinomas. This begins in the outer parts of lung and lasts for long duration prior to diagnosing. This mostly affects women and younger than 45 years. This also effects both smokers and non smokers. This is considered as one of the complex types of lung cancer as its presence in the number of pulmonary regions. Thus, effects various functions of lungs.

    Symptoms of Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer
    Symptoms of adenocarcinoma lung cancer include:

    • Fever
    • Weight loss
    • Cough
    • Poor appetite
    • Shortness of breath
    • Wheezing
    • Hoarseness
    • Chest pain
    • Coughing up blood
    • Cough

    Treatments for Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer

    • Surgery: If adenocarcinoma is detected in the early stage, doctor opts for surgery. Additionally, some treatments also fight against the disease.

      During the surgery, doctor removes part of lobe in lung, entire lobe or the lung based on the tumor size and location. Physician also performs lymph nodes biopsies for checking metastasis.

    • Chemotherapy: This is the most common treatment for adenocarcinoma lung cancer, particularly in advanced stage. Chemo works on the cancer cells and healthy cells too. Side effects of chemotherapy include loss of hair, fatigue, stomach upset, weakness and mouth sores. This can be used along with other treatments, such as radiation and surgery.

      Chemotherapy is either given orally or injected into blood stream. More than one medication acts in the chemo treatment and chemotherapy should be taken for quite a while.

    • Radiation: This decreases the tumor size. If the health care provider is concerned about metastasis, he may suggest to undergo radiation to prevent tumors from growing. This treatments aimed at lungs. Doctors can inject radiation into the body near the cancerous cells, apart from aiming it in from outside. This may be used with surgery or chemotherapy.
    • Medications: If the cancer is in advanced stage, two medications are introduced for the treatment. Avastin inhibits blood from entering into tumor. This drug stops blood to enter into tumor, even if tumor paves way. Tarceva is another medication used, if chemotherapy does not work. This stops the growth of cancerous cells.
