    Ayurvedic Technique for Weight Loss

    Obesity or excess weight is becoming a huge problem all over the world. This may be attributed to a lot of factors like stress, improper diet and eating habits, sedentary lifestyles and lot many other factors. Obesity, in turn, can lead to a lot of health complications including breathlessness, heart diseases, eating disorders, knee and ankle problems, along with some more. There are many treatments and techniques available that can help lose weight and lead a more healthy life.

    Ayurvedic techniques for weight loss
    Ayurveda system believes that weight prob;ems arise due to imbalances in the Kapha Dosha. To restore balance, you have to balance out this Dosha. Kapha Dosha is characteristic of qualities such as soft, heavy, fixed, wet, sticky and cold. These have to be balanced in order to lose weight effectively.

    There are some techniques along with dietary recommendations that can help lose weight and stay healthy.

    • Lemonade: You can have a glass of warm lemonade with honey instead of sugar. Honey helps with weight loss and this drink will keep hunger pangs away and help you avoid snacking.
    • Hot spices: Having lots of hot spices like cinnamon, ginger, coriander and so on as part of your diet is a good idea. It helps in balancing Kapha Dosha.
    • Hot drinks: Substitute cold drinks like milk shakes and sodas with hot drinks like tea, hot water and soups. It helps balance Kapha.
    • Bitter, pungent and astringent foods: You should have more of such foods in your daily diet. These have fewer calories and they help balance Kapha Dosha.
    • Grains, cereals and salads: You should increase your intake of dry cereals, salads, cooked grains and beans as they help Vata and Pitta Doshas and prevent aggravation of Kapha.
    • One big meal: You should have only one large meal in a day and this should ideally be during the day, that is, either breakfast or lunch.

    How do these Ayurveda techniques work for weight loss?

    • They help stimulate metabolism of stored fats and use energy from this breakdown of lipids.
    • They decrease the speed of digestion of carbohydrates, which prevents frequent hunger pangs.
    • Improves digestion, which helps in better absorption of nutrients from food.

    If you follow these techniques and recommendations regularly, you will surely benefit. It will help you lose weight the healthy way and help you lead a fitter life.
