    Ayurvedic Remedies for Bloating

    What is bloating?
    Bloating is nothing but gas building up inside the body, especially in the stomach and digestive system. It makes you feel uncomfortable and may also lead to pain and tightness in the abdominal region. It may also make you feel extremely full and stuffed. It can be caused due to a number of reasons like food allergies, aerated drinks, gassy foods, and some others. There are some simple Ayurvedic cures like ginger and cumin seeds that can be very effective in treating this problem and giving relief.

    There are many simple remedies in the Ayurveda system using herbs as well as dietary changes that can help with this condition.

    Ayurvedic herbs for bloating

    • Cumin seeds, ginger and salt: Mix a small piece of ginger, a pinch of salt and a spoon of cumin seeds, grind them into a paste with a little water and have, followed by a glass of warm water.
    • Chamomile tea: This is very good as it relaxes muscles and nerves and relieves cramps. It thus helps in releasing pent up gas in the body to give relief.
    • Peppermint tea: It also helps relax muscles and leads to easier release of accumulated gas in the system, thus giving relief.
    • Amritdhara: It is an Ayurvedic formulation that help relieve not only bloating but also stomach ache and flatulence.

    Ayurvedic dietary recommendations for bloating

    • Increase the amount of fiber in your daily diet.
    • Increasing your daily intake of water also goes a long way in preventing and treating this condition.
    • It is a good habit to chew your food well and eat your meals slowly instead of gulping it down.
    • Avoid smoking and use of other tobacco products.
    • Avoid chewing gum, carbonated drinks and drinking or eating while on the move.
    • Exercise is also important as obesity can also cause or aggravate this problem.
    • Avoid foods like broccoli, beans, cauliflower, cabbage and sprouts as they could worsen the condition.
