    How to Make Natural Mouthwash

    Chemical mouthwashes available in market are not good as they can sometimes lead to side effects. We can make mouthwashes at home also, which do not contain any side effects and makes teeth healthy and stronger.

    Various ingredients found in nature can be combined together that encourage healthy gums and teeth. Herbs such as aloe vera, tea tree, cinnamon, clove and other herbs are used to make herbal mouthwash. Some of the recipes for Ayurvedic mouthwash are given in this article.

    Ayurvedic Mouthwash
    Some of the effective mouthwash recipes are discussed below:

    • Angelica Mouthwash — This mouthwash freshens the mouth and sweetens the breath. Use twice daily for most effective action. Pour 2 cups boiling water over 3 table spoons of Angelica seeds. Add peppermint, caraway, verbena or rosemary for extra strength. If little orris root is added, it will freshen the breah with the aroma of violets. Now cover and steep, till it becomes cool. Strain and store in tightly closed container. Use this as a gargle to rinse the mouth.
    • Lavender Mouthwash — Mix 1 teaspoon each rosemary, peppermint and lavender. Use 1 teaspoon of mixture to 1 cup of boiling water. Steep 15 minutes. Strain and use as a mouthwash.
    • Aloe vera Mouthwash — Mix Aloe vera juice, distilled water and witch hazel. Shake properly and let ti stand for 2 minutes. Add essential oils and shake vigorously. Cap it and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then refrigerate it for 24 hours. Whenever you want to use it, take 2 tablespoon of mouthwash in a cup of water and gargle for 1 minute.
    • Spicy Mouthwash — Add 3 drops of cinnamon oil, 2 drops of clove oil, 2 teaspoons of sugar and ¾ teaspoon of boric acid solution to 4 cups of water. Put in quart container and shake well.
    • Breath Freshener — Add 1 tablespoon allspice to 1 cup hot water and use as a gargle.
