    Running and knee pain

    Knee pains and knee injuries are very common in runners and athletes life. Many of the runners are injured during their practice. So it is very often they come across the injuries. While running, people might slip off as they lose control over the running speed. When they slip off, they generally fall facing the ground where knee is injured.

    In general, people assume knee pain as near the knee, but knee pain is sometimes behind the knee-cap while you run. This pain might affect your practice as you need to take rest for longer time.

    How knee pain affects running
    Knee pain is a common injury and affects beginners, who just started to increase their speed. This pain gradually increases running downhill. This pain increases to those who have just started after a long rest. We can hear clicking sound when we extend or bending our knee.

    Prime factors
    It is very important to know the major causes by proper diagnosis, in order to treat the pain. Many runners complain that knee pain is not just near the knee but inside the knee. Sometimes this pain is severe and affects feet where you might not be able to put on shoes. It is easy to determine symptoms of knee pain by diagnosing. Appropriate treatment can be given once the cause is determined.

    In general treating knee problems begins with simple treatments, later if the condition is serious then you are recommended to under go the complex treatments.

    Treatments
    Knee pain treatment should be treated initially with ice pack. It is recommended to use ice packs for about 15 to 20 minutes.Icing relieves pain instantly. There are certain gels and anti-inflammatory tablets which helps in quick release of swelling.
    Alternating both heat therapy and cold therapy to heal the soft tissue damage.

    Recovery and rehabilitation
    Rehabilitation is one of the most important aspects of any treatment. After treatment muscles rest for some duration of time as suggested by the doctor. Followed by the treatment interventions, knee rests for certain time period and thus knee becomes weak. Improving strength and maintaining will help in complete and soon recovery.
