    Hill Running – Tips

    One of the best way to improve running speed for runners is hill running. Hill running helps not only to improve their speed but helps in building stamina along with the mental strength for the runners.

    Tips for beginners of hill running

    1. It is very strenuous for the beginners of hill running. Unless you are aware of the basic running you might not be able to reach your goal. So there are a few tips for the beginners of hill running mentioned below.
    2. Even though hills come at different inclination degrees and lengths, they help in various ways to improve running in a better manner.
    3. It is advisable not to start hill running without the basic running skills. Experts say that you need to have a minimum of eight weeks of basic running before starting hill running.
    4. It is advisable to choose a hill which is a distance of 100-200 metres initially. Once you are comfortable with the distance then you can increase your distance accordingly. In case you are not comfortable with the hill which you have chosen then you are suggested to choose another upon your requirements.
    5. You are advised to go for a warm up before going for a hill running. You are suggested to go for jogging when you are going for hill running.
    6. Jogging becomes mandatory when it comes to down hill running. Just before reaching down hill you are advised to jog to avoid falls during your hill run.
    7. If you want to focus mentally on the hill running, then you are asked to focus on the ground rather than staring ground at your feet. Focusing on hill (say about 10 – 20 feet ahead) makes your run easier.
    8. Never push yourself hard during your hill run. It is not possible to reach top hill with out consistency.
    9. Consistency plays major role in every sports person. You need to input consistent efforts to achieve your goals.
    10. Soon after reaching your goal you need to warm up yourself. You can even stretch yourself to avoid muscles pains and crams.
