    Remedies for Allergy Fatigue

suryaBy suryaOctober 24, 2010002 Mins Read

What are the best ways to cope with fatigue when it is caused by allergies? This article will explain.

    What is Fatigue?

Fatigue is characterized by a diminished capacity to work or to do other activities. Fatigue means that you are tired and lethargic.

    Why Allergies Cause Fatigue

When you are suffering from an allergy your immune system is in overdrive. When the body attacks what it sees as an invader in the body it spends a lot of energy. Therefore, your exhaustion is caused by the fact that all of the energy you have goes into fighting the allergen. So, if you are allergic to pollen for instant and you breathe in pollen particles, your body starts to produce histamines, causing symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and breathing difficulties. The excess energy you have to spend to produce and manage these symptoms is the reason you feel exhausted when suffering from an allergy.

    Remedies

    – Maintain proper blood sugar levels

If you have a healthy diet with proper nutrition, it is easier for your immune system to fight the allergy.

    – Do not exhaust yourself too much

If at work you feel stressed, you should find ways to reduce your work load. Allergy symptoms often get worse with stress. Stress is also likely to cause more fatigue.

    – Minimize your exposure to allergens

Even if the allergen cannot be completely avoided, you should try to avoid contact as much as possible. The more you can avoid the allergen, the better you will feel.

    – You can use medicines to manage allergy symptoms

Remember also that medicines for allergies only treat the symptoms and should be used in moderation because they can produce drug dependence if taken for extended periods.

    – Get proper rest

Physical exercise is important but remember that allergy symptoms, as well as fatigue, need plenty of rest and relaxation in order for you to feel better.

These are some of the ways that allergy related fatigue can be managed. Please make sure that you get the condition under control because it is something that affects your quality of life. If you are unable to do it on your own, a visit to a doctor will help in finding ways to reduce fatigue through allergy treatment.
