    Ayurvedic Remedies for Hormonal Imbalance

    Hormonal imbalances are common, especially in women. This can be due to a number of reasons like menstruation, menopause, pregnancy, breast feeding and some more. Men have hormonal imbalances during andropause or if they have any problems with glandular functioning. These imbalances can play havoc with metabolism, mood, tissue wear and tear and many other such bodily functions if not taken care of in time. The Ayurveda system has some herbs and formulations that can come in handy for this.

    Ayurvedic remedies for hormonal imbalances
    Ayurveda has some herbs and herbal mixtures that can be very effective in normalizing hormone levels in the body and improve general health.

    Menstruation and menopause

    • Lodhra
    • Shatavari
    • Ashoka
    • Wild yam
    • Raspberry leaf

    These help balance the various energies of the body and restore balance and normalcy.

    Andropause

    • Saffron
    • Ashwagandha
    • Shilajit
    • Raspberry leaf
    • Black cohosh
    • Damiana

    All the herbs used by women for hormonal imbalances can also be useful for men for this problem.

    Stress, tension and depression

    • Mix half a spoon each of cumin, coriander, ginger and fennel powders with half a spoon each of black salt and wild celery seeds and have this with about half a cup of water two times a day.
    • Mix half a cup each of fresh apple, carrot, beetroot and cabbage juices along with two or three spoons of ginger juice and have half a portion of this every morning and evening.


    Causes of hormonal imbalances

    • Menstruation and menopause
    • Pregnancy and breast feeding
    • Stress, tension
    • Depression

    Other than this, there are some other factors like medications and other health complications, along with habits like smoking, alcoholism and drug abuse, that can cause imbalances in hormone levels.
