    Ayurvedic Treatment for Excessive Menstruation

    The Ayurvedic name for excessive bleeding is Rakta Pradar. Sometimes, in some women excessive menstruation can be very painful. There are various Ayurvedic herbal remedies for heavy or excessive menstruation. These remedies are natural, safe and effective to cure the disorder. The Ayurvedic herbs are used to prepare medicines in the form of powder, decoction, jelly or other clarified butter based medicines. Various Ayurvedic remedies are discussed in this article to cure excessive bleeding.

    The disease is believed to be the result of the imbalance of hormones caused by a distortion in the heat or pitta body humor.

    Ayurvedic Remedies for Excessive Menstruation
    Following are some of the effective Ayurvedic home remedies to cure excessive menstruation:

    • Punarnava — Crush red Punarnava to extract the juice. Take 5 to 10 ml twice a day.
    • Phitkari — An enema prepared by adding phitkari to water in the ratio of 1:5 is recommended. Phitkari water can also be used as a vaginal wash. Approx. ½ teaspoon of phitkari powder can also be taken with milk twice a day.
    • Amla — Crush the amla fruit and extract the juice. Take approx 20 ml preferably on an empty stomach.
    • Pomegranate — Pound 7 tender leaves of Pomegranate and 7 grains of rice to form a paste. Take this twice daily for a few days.
    • Mango — Use the liquid extracted from the bark of Mango tree to cure heavy bleeding.
    • Hibiscus flowers — Pound some juvenile Hibiscus flowers into a paste along with some milk. Take 5 to 10 grams of the paste twice a day.
