    Ayurvedic Treatment of Swine Flu

    Swine flu is caused by Type-A Influenza virus,or H1N1 virus. The disease is declared pandemic by WHO. There are various ayurvedic and herbal remedies for treatment of swine flu. Swine flu is the disease of pigs and now it has affected humans as well. The symptoms of the disease are similar to the influenza flu.

    The H1N1 virus affects the upper respiratory tract. The symptoms of the disease include headaches, sore throat, fever with chills, fatigue, aching limbs, diarrhea, vomiting and running nose. Respiratory failure and pneumonia are some of the signs of serious swine flu infection.

    Swine Flu and Ayurveda
    Ayurveda medicine is based on the concept of body’s immunity. Even when the body is subjected to the virus, if a person’s immune system is strong enough, one will not get affected by the virus. Ayurveda treatment gives stress on the immunity of the people. Hence, the treatment involves increasing the immunity level. The treatment involves the use of herbs to boost up the immune system and get relief from swine flu symptoms. Following are some of the herbs for treatment of swine flu –

    • Ginger— One of the natural remedies for swine flu prevention is ginger. It protects the body and boosts up the immunity. It can effectively cure fever, cold, inflammation and flu conditions. Ginger tea can be taken.
    • Garlic — Garlic is a natural antibiotic and helps fight against viruses and bacteria. It can be added to soups and other foods.
    • Basil — Basil is one of the main ingredients in ayurvedic treatment. Basil tea can be taken twice a day. It can prevent the virus and boost up the body’s immunity. It should be taken in fresh form for control and prevention of the virus. 25 leaves of the herb should be made into paste or in juice form and consumed fresh. Basil is safe and natural with no side effects.
    • Gooseberry — The berry is rich in vitamin C which increases the immune power in the body.
    • Aloe vera — It increases the body’s resistance to fight against the virus. One tea spoon of aloe vera gel should be taken with water daily.
    • Eucalyptus oil and camphor are other strong agents to fight against swine flu.
