    Rasayana Therapy in Ayurveda – Benefits

    Rasayana therapy is one of the eight branches of Ayurveda. Literally ‘Rasa’ has several meanings but in Ayurveda it means that which nourishes the body and boosts immunity. The aim Rasayana therapy is to enhance normal functioning of the enzymes that are present in the tissue cells. It is also called rejuvenation therapy.

    Types of Rasayana Therapy: There are several classifications of Rasayana Therapy according to context.

    It is broadly classified into two: Kamya Rasayana and Naimittka Rasayana

    • Kamya Rasayanas: These rasayanas promote normal health of the tissues in the body by boosting energy levels and immunity. It is sub divided into:
      Pranakamya — Promoter of vitality and longevity
      Medhakamya — Promoter of intelligence
      Srikamya — Promoter of complexion
    • Naimittika Rasayanas: These rasayanas help to fight a specific disease.

    Based on the place of therapy it is divided into

    Kuti Praveshika Rasayana — Indoor Rasayana Therapy.
    Vatatapika Rasayana — Outdoor Rasayana Therapy.

    Based on diet and life styles rasayana therapy is divided into:

    Aushdha Rasayana — Drug Based Rasayana.
    Ahara Rasayana — Dietary Rasayana.
    Achara Rasayana — Lifestyle Rasayana.

    Benefits of Rasayana Therapy: There are many benefits of Rasayana therapy. Some of them include:

    • It promotes good health and the sense of well-being in the person. It increases concentration and improves memory power.
    • The skin looks youthful and radiates its natural glow after the therapy.
    • It calms and de-stresses the mind by relieving it from anxiety, depression and stress related problems.
    • The person experiences a higher resistance to diseases by improving the immunity. This helps in increasing the longevity of life.
    • Some of the changes that the person can feel are: improved intelligence, youthfulness, good luster, complexion & voice, mastery over phonetics, respectability and brilliance.
    • Rasayana has marked action on reproductive organs by nourishing them and increasing their vitality.
    • Achara Rasayana therapy can change the person’s attitude towards life. He can be more Satvik and surge ahead in the spiritual field by his pure daily routines like speaking truth, not getting angry, by having control over his sense organs and calmness.
