    Baby Eye Infection

    Baby visualizes this world with the help of eyes. So, parents must be greatly careful about their baby’s vision. Although rate of blindness and serious eye problems found in babies is not very high. But, still any kind of  minor problem in eye needs immediate consultation from the doctor.

    Causes Of Baby Eye Infection:
    There can be  many causes of baby eye infection. Some of them are:

    • Viral Infection: The most common infection which is caused by viruses is conjunctivitis. If the baby has conjunctivitis along with cold symptoms then the baby is suffering from viral conjunctivitis.
    • Bacterial Infection: The infection in eye can be caused by any bacteria also. If Baby’s eyes are swelled and sticked together; due to the yellow color of discharge from his eyes then there may be a bacterial infection of staphylococcus, streptococcus, or homophiles.
    • Allergy: Although allergic reactions are found rarely in children who are below the age of 1yrs. But if they have itching  in their eyes then they can be allergic. Some other symptoms for allergy to dust, pollen and smoke are water and bloodshot in eyes along with running nose. Allergy may or may not be the stem for any of the infection. But it can happen,  if the child is exposed to the irritant for a long duration

    Symptoms Of Baby Eye Infection:
    The symptom commonly found in babies of eye infection are:

    • Viral Conjunctivitis: Baby suffers from cold and other respiratory infections. Eyes will be swollen and pink in color; tearing and watery discharge will be there from eyes.
    • Bacterial Conjunctivitis: The color of eyes will be red or pink; swelling will be there in the eyes; discharge of yellow color will be there which will seal the eyelids.
    • Allergic Conjunctivitis: The eyes will be red, swollen and teary; bloodshot eyes and running nose is also a symptom that can be noticed. Sneezing and stringy discharge will also be noticed.
