Atopic dermatitis can result in eyelid rashes. If you are allergic to mold spores, pet danders, dust mites and pollens, then you are highly prone to eyelid rashes. Generally, atopic dermatitis affects the other body parts like flexural surfaces. Sometimes food allergies may also cause atopic dermatitis. This may include the eyelids as well as the face.

    Contact Dermatitis

Contact dermatitis is caused by cosmetics that are directly applied to the eyelids, for example, eye liner or eye shadow. These cosmetic products may contain variety of antigens causing the eyelid rash. Quaternium — 15 and formaldehyde are such type of antigens. Eye cosmetics that have a blue or green color may contain cobalt or nickel. This also causes contact dermatitis.

Even chemicals used on the scalp like hair dye, conditioners, shampoo, etc. can cause contact dermatitis. Initially a rash won’t appear on the scalp as the skin on the scalp is very thick.
