- We come across the longest wave when we surf in Brazil known as Pororoca. Between the time period of March and February, the ocean here generates tide waves up to a height of 12 feet which can last over an half hour. Pororoca means in Tupi language “great destructive noise”. Any thing in its path gets destroyed as it travels at a speed of 10 to 15 miles (about 16 to 24 km) per hour.
