The US Department of Agriculture has labeled certain products as Certified Organic, Organic and made with organic ingredients. Certified Organic skin care products are those that are completely organically produced. They carry the seal of the USDA. Organic skin care products are those that contain at least 95 per cent organic ingredients and they also carry the seal of the USDA. Those skin care products made from organic ingredients contain at least 70 per cent of organic ingredients. These products don’t carry the seal of the USDA. The organic skin care product range enjoys excellent market and it is growing at a rapid pace.

The growth of certified organic skin care market is at about 23 per cent in Europe, 22 per cent in the US, 21 per cent in Japan. With the advent of mechanized farming practices in 1960s and 1970s, people started becoming conscious of the health risks associated with pesticide chemicals such as DDT. Increasing consumer awareness to the possible dangers of chemicals drew attention to the dangers of organo-chlorine compounds. This led to the emergence of synthetic-chemical-free products.

In the course of time, the market for certified organic food and skin care products grew and supermarkets in developed countries decided to stock genuine organic food and skin care products to satisfy the ever-growing demand for safe products. The organic certification for food products is carried out in the US by the USDA, in Australia by the Biological Farmers of Australia, in Japan by the JAS and in the UK by Soil Association.

The products in the Certified organic skin care range include chamomile extract, sage extrasct, linden extract, bal mint extract, shea butter (from kaiate), wheat germ oil, carrot oil, cetyl alcohol (organic co-emulsifier), sorbic acid (organic compound), tocopherol acetate (organic compound) ethylparaben (organic compound), imidazolidiniyl urea (organic compound), apricot oil and many others.

Among the products, a soothing moisturizer with organic herbs and extracts like chamomile, calendula, carrot and horsechestnut will have a lasting effect on skin hydration and smoothness. A combination of organic rosechip, avocado and jojoba oil with rose, calendula and carrot revitalizes and improves the appearance of stressed skin. The combination of Yucca juice and polyglucose with panthenol moisturizes hair. Avocado oil helps in bringing back the luster. Organic herbs add brightness to the body. The use of certified organic skin care products is the best and safe method to ensure long term safety and health of skin.
