    Pinched Sciatic Nerve Symptoms

    Sciatica is a disc related problem which can occur by a pinched nerve. The sciatic nerve is very sensitive and the inner side consists of inflammatory proteins that can cause irritation. An irritation caused to the inner side of the sensitive nerve can lead to inflammation and it can transform into a pinched sciatic nerve.

    In US, about 5% of the of lower back pain cases are in relation with pinched sciatic nerve.

    Some of the primary symptoms of pinched sciatic nerve –

    • Tingling sensation
    • Sciatic nerve pain
    • Numbness in the area
    • Pins and needles sensation
    • Weakness and lack of flexibility

    Normally, the symptoms of a sciatic nerve vary according to the degree of the pinched nerve, the intensity of inflammation and irritation and the pressure inserted in the area. It is mainly experienced in the lower back area.

    Pinched Sciatic Nerve Recovery Time
    The pain that originates from a sciatic nerve is known as sciatic pain. Sciatic nerve is known as the largest nerve in the body.

    Tips for Pinched Sciatic Nerve Recovery

    • Take pain killers like aspirin or ibuprofen
    • Sleep with pillow under the knees. It reduces the pressure in the nerve
    • Prefer a firm mattress or floor to sleep in times of severe pain, properly rest for 3 days
    • Take special care not to strain the lower back area
    • Use hot and cold healing packs to relieve the pain
    • Pay attention not to lift heavy objects
    • Concentrate on a diet which is rich in fruits, fiber, and vegetables content

    It is not desirable to assume that the pain experienced in the lower back and buttock is due to pinched sciatic nerve. One should seek medical help to get rid of the condition as early as possible.
