    • Analyze your smoking pattern and see if there is some regularity. Do you smoke during certain times or when you are with select people? Do you smoke to avoid boredom? Or, to show off to your friends? Do you smoke in order to get a certain feeling, or mood?
    • Once the behavioral trait is identified, you can modify it. For instance, if you smoke marijuana to avoid boredom, read a book, take a walk or do anything else to alleviate the boredom without taking recourse to the drug.
    • Avoid hanging out with friends who smoke marijuana. Stop going to parties with these friends and explain to them not to smoke around you, as you are serious about quitting.
    • If possible, enroll into a treatment center that offers detoxification programs to wean away your marijuana habit.
    • Quitting marijuana can be a difficult decision, but it should be taken without delay, as the health benefits that accrue are immense and priceless.
