    Smoking Worsens Diabetic Conditions

    Diabetes is a serious health condition and has several negative health consequences. If you suffer from diabetes and are into the habit of smoking then  it would be  better  you quit as soon as possible.

    This is because tobacco has many bad health effects, particularly for people with diabetes. Smoking increases the already high health risks associated with diabetes

    Diabetes is a serious disease that carries a very high risk of heart disease and stroke.

    Adding smoking to diabetes magnifies this risk by leaps and bounds and the  danger of other diabetes complications, further shortening life expectancy and decreasing quality of life.

    Many people with diabetes work very hard to control their blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol in order to prevent complications of diabetes such as heart attack and stroke. Unfortunately, smoking simply undoes all this hard work.

    Not only this people with diabetes who smoke are three times as likely to die of cardiovascular disease as are other people with diabetes.

    Also, people with diabetes who smoke are three times more likely to die of heart attack or stroke than people with diabetes who do not smoke.

    Researches and studies conducted show and prove that smoking  acts as  an independent risk factor for diabetes, and amongst diabetics it increases the risk of complications. Smoking further doubles the chances of suffering from kidney problems and erectile dysfunction.

    Further diabetes complications have been proven to be aggravated by smoking. These complications include diabetic nephropathy, albuminuria and several other health complications.

    There are links between smoking and retinopathy, although these are less evident than the cardiovascular risks. Smoking while suffering from diabetes further increases the risk of blindness.

    Smoking is certainly a major risk factor for both the development and progression of diabetic neuropathy. It not just leads to the damage of nerves but the kidney also, this condition is called diabetic nephropathy.

    If you are going through this page and realize you have nothing to fear thinking that smoking will not cause you so much of harm because you are not diabetic then you are wrong. Smoking also leads to diabetics.

    People who suffer from Insulin Resistance cannot use their bodily insulin properly, this factor leads to diabetics. Smoking is also proven to be a risk factor for insulin resistance.

    It is very important that one quit smoking. Quitting smoking not just helps a diabetic patient but also a normal individual. Smoking makes one feel very relaxed and calm, but the after effects of smoking are very painful.

    Stopping smoking reduces the risk of developing a major diabetes-related complication. People suffering from diabetics think that if they stop smoking they will put on lot of weight but studies have proved that benefits of giving up smoking as a diabetic actually outweigh any negative effects caused by weight gain.

    So,quit smoking and save your body from further damage. It is not an easy task but nevertheless it is not impossible too.
