    Diet and Bad Breath: Food to Prevent Bad Breath

    Dieting can cause side effects and that dieting causes bad breath, because of which people may avoid talking to you. Diet is good for health but does not do good to the breath. The bad breath caused by diet can be cured by a dentist.

    This is caused when the some of the chemicals are released by the body as the fats are burned. These chemicals are the ketone’s, they are the integral part of Atkins diet and are responsible for the loss of body weight.

    Cause of Bad Breath due to Diet:
    The root cause of bad breath behind the diet is when there are less carbohydrates, the body tends to use some other fats and proteins. Oral hygiene is not the result of bad breath, therefore one can stop stop brushing or scrapping their tongue rigorously.

    Low-carb diet Cause Bad Breath:
    Low-carb diets causes bad breath and this is caused by certain chemicals released when the body burns fat. Ketosis is the stage where the fat burning process is done. If a person breath stinks then it means the low-carb diet is working.

    Food to Prevent Bad Breath:
    Oral hygiene and the gastrointestinal health is responsible for bad breath. Bad odor is not caused inside the mouth but also from the digestive tract. In order to avoid bad breath, the doctors advice to follow proper diet.

    Make sure that your eating habits are right and that a balanced diet should be eaten. Balanced diet includes carbs and protein rich food. Your diet should also contain fruits, vegetables and plenty of fluids. Following are few things which can used to prevent bad breath.

    Chew On:
    Chew herbs like coriander, eucalyptus, cardamom and rosemary to fight bad breath. These herbs helps in fighting the bad breath. You can chew them fresh or you can add in hot water as a tea and end the meal with these herbs because they work excellently for digestion.

    Yogurt:
    Recent study found that yogurt reduces the levels of hydrogen sulfide which is responsible of causing bad odor in the mouth. It also acts effectively in killing the bacteria in the mouth. Yogurt is rich in vitamin D according to American Dietic Association.

    Crunchy food:
    To avoid bad breath and halitosis, food like apples, celery and carrots can be eaten. Since these fruits are rich in fibre, they are useful in eradicating the bad odor from the mouth. Since this kind of food increases the saliva and keeps the mouth moist and rinsed there will not be any occurrence of bad breath.
