    Is Bronchitis Contagious?

    Yes. It is true that bronchitis is contagious.

    A contagious disease is something which is communicable by contact with a person who is affected with a disease. It can be spread to the other person by some kind of secretion and by touching some object used by the patient.

    Bronchitis is the inflammation of the windpipe which links to the lungs. It starts with an irritation in the bronchial tubes. It may cause inflammation and block in the lining of the mucus membrane. Bronchitis can cause mucus build up and it restricts easy breathing.

    There are two types of bronchitis.

    They are acute bronchitis and chronic bronchitis.

    Acute bronchitis is a sudden break up of symptoms of bronchitis which may last for a few days or weeks. It may exist for 3 to 6 months in some cases. Cold symptoms are the main signs of bronchitis in children with an immature immune system.

    The bronchitis symptoms (like cough, wheezing etc) which exist for more than 6 months can be chronic bronchitis. The affected person experiences frequent spells of cold and cough with mucus. It also causes wheezing and shortness of breath.

    Contagious Bronchitis

    The bronchitis viruses is transmitted through simple touch, sneeze and cough. There has to be separate objects for the usage of the patient to avoid the symptoms of contagious bronchitis. However, the bronchitis caused by the inflammation of the bronchial tubes are not contagious.

    The close contact with the infected person has to be avoided to be safe. The intensity of contagious bronchitis may vary from the person to person. It depends upon the strength of the immune system and the existing symptoms of the person.

    It is advisable to seek the help of a medical service provider to know about the precautionary measures to stay away from the contagiousness of bronchitis.
