These tissues are responsible for the development of defensive cells that protects the throat against any infection. These are nothing but the adenoids, the left and the right tonsils and the base of the tongue. Adenoids are located at the back of the nose that is above the tongue. These adenoids get larger between the birth and four years of age and eventually become progressively small. They disappear completely by the time a person reaches adulthood.

    Symptoms caused by Adenoids:
Nasal obstruction is generally caused by large adenoids, because which children breathes through mouth and this leads to snoring at night. A fluid called ‘glue ear’ gets developed in the middle of the ear. These large adenoids and tonsils create a problem known as sleep apnea syndrome, due to which a child stops breathing completely during sleep.

Other Conditions that cause Nasal Blockage:
Nasal blockage causes allergic rhinitis which is the swelling of the nasal lining. In some children this condition is either associated with asthma and eczema. It sometimes causes deviated nasal septum and this may be present at birth or it may be caused due to a blow on the nose. This is also caused if children push up their nostrils or it may be due a foreign body such as a bead.

    Does Large Adenoids require Treatment:
Large adenoids can be left alone in some cases as they will eventually become smaller as children grow old. Large adenoids are recommended to be removed only if they are associated with the ‘glue ear’ or sleep apnea. Large adenoids do not have any effect of any medical treatment.

Removal of Large Adenoids Cause Pain:
