    The following are the healthy snacks for runners if you want to get away with high calorie snacks.

    1. Apple Slices along with peanut butter
      If you are consuming huge amounts of calories by eating junk foods then you can cut down all the junk food by replacing them with the apple slices along with peanut butter. Apples is a rich source of protein gives you good amounts of protein required by your body.
    2. Plain Yogurt
      Plain Yogurt is rich source of carbs and low source of fat. Plain Yogurt is rich in protein, calcium and potassium.This is very helpful for the digestive system.
    3. Smoothies
      You can consume smoothies also which is another healthy snack. You can even prepare smoothies in home by taking half a cup of skimmed milk, frozen strawberries and a banana. Mix all of them in a blender and you can use other fruits which you feel are good for you.
    4. Chocolate Milk
      You can get proteins, vitamin – B and carbohydrates in good amounts from chocolate milk and shakes. You feel refreshing when you consume chocolate milk soon after you finish your run. The calcium present in the chocolate milk help your bones to be strong.
    5. Carrots and Vegetables
      If you are worried that you are gaining too many calories then carrot can be one of the best snacks for you. Carrots do not give you high calories so you can have it pre and post run. But, it is recommended to avoid eating too many carrots before dinner. Carrots and vegetables helps in giving good amounts of proteins, carbs, potassium and calcium.
    6. Bananas
      Bananas is considered to be one of the rich sources of carbs. This helps in preventing muscle cramps. Bananas help in digestion process that is, they help in easy digestion. If you are running then this can be one of the best pre-run snack.
    7. Cereal Bars
      Cereal Bars are easy to carry and is always healthy for runners. But, pick only those cereal bars which have less ingredients as they are less fatty.
