adminBy adminApril 19, 2010002 Mins Read

Walking is the best and arguably the easiest of all the exercises. It suits people of all ages. It needs no specific training and accessories. It is the most natural form of all the exercises. It needs no practice. There is no specific time for walking.

    Why Should I Walk?

    You have to walk because:

    • Walking helps you in a big way in maintaining proper health.
    • You can get rid of the bad cholesterol that gets accumulated in your body due to unplanned dietary intake.
    • It enhances the good cholesterol which is good for your heart.
    • It takes care of your high blood pressure problem.
    • It reduces the risk of getting type 2 Diabetes (adult type) which mainly occurs due to improper life style.
    • It is the best tool for weight management.
    • Walking is a very good mood stabilizer and helps you in maintaining proper mental health profile.
    • It adequately takes care of long term fitness needs and demands of your body.

Do I Need any Special Preparation for Walking?

Take the following measures for a better walking experience:

    • Wear comfortable shoes.
    • Wear comfortable clothing in tune with the climate you are into.
    • Do not wear rubberized clothing because it hardly allows the sweat to evaporate.
    • Wear brighter shades and reflective clothing during late evening and night time walking, so that motorists have no problem in negotiating you.
    • Start your walking session by walking slowly for the first few minutes, gradually increase your pace and stop promptly when you feel warm.
    • Gradually bring your walking session to an end so that your heart and other muscles relax. After this, if you feel like going, start another session or else stop for the day.
