Fasting is a wonderful blessing that we can choose to partake of. Very often we consider fasting to be a big pain. There must have been several instances wherein we must have counted the hours hoping and praying that time could be fast forwarded.

What we don’t know is that, this time of fasting is an excellent way to rediscover ourselves. If taken positively, fasting brings about lots of peace and clarity in our lives.

    Have a Purpose

You should have a purpose for your fast. This makes your fast more meaningful. Fasting can help find insight because your body becomes more in tune with the spirit. You can fast to find solutions to problems in your life, you can fast for people who are ill, you can fast to stop a drought or you can fast regarding the concerns currently facing the world. Fasting is a beautiful way of drawing out that powerful inner source of energy and well being that very few discover.

Prayer a Beautiful Aspect of Fasting

Begin and end your fast with a prayer. You can go about your normal activities (work, taking care of your children and other daily tasks), but take time to contemplate your problem and to pray when you have the opportunity. Prayer and Fasting when used together bring about amazing results.

    Study the Scriptures

Attending a place of worship can help you gain further insight while fasting. It is a wonderful place to feel the spirit. Spend some time studying the scriptures. Doing this brings about lot of peace and meaning in life. You can also create a peaceful environment by playing quiet music and abstaining from loud and boisterous activities.

Be Thankful For all the Blessings in your Life

It is important to give thanks while you are fasting. You can write in your journal or bear your testimony at church. You may choose to share the experiences with your children. As you give thanks you acknowledge the Lord’s hand in your life. Doing this will not only help you feel blessed but also make you optimistic and positive about the various aspects in life.

Fasting, with all these points in mind will give you a great sense of meaning in life.
