    Fasting Dangers

    Fasting means, restricting your diet or abstaining from food intake. This process is followed for many reasons. It can be for religious purpose, weight loss or detoxification of the body. One has to understand how one can complete a fast without having to suffer any type of health problems. As the body is not given proper amount of food, there can be many side-effects in terms of internal functioning of the body, weakness etc. There are many connotations for fasting. There is a wide acceptance that fasting will cleanse the organs by removing the toxins from them. But fewer people know how these toxins are flushed out and what happens to them if they are not flushed out immediately.

    Dangers Of Fasting: There are lesser advantages than disadvantages of fasting, when it is not taken up in the right procedure. Fasting can be very dangerous. It not only affects the physical aspect, but also disturbs the mental wellbeing of the person. Fasting drops the blood sugar level and also the water content in the body. This will reduce brain activity and in turn reduces the body reflex. Also adding to that, the body itself will not generating enough energy to supply for daily activities.

    How Fasting Can Have a Negative Effect: When the body doesn’t get the required amount of nutrients, the body starts to use the available resources to generate energy. As there is no food consumption, there are no nutrients. This makes the body to turn towards toxins for energy. The body breaks down tissues and other fatty substances. This weakens the immune system and makes the individual sick.

    Fasting is strictly not advised for people who are malnourished. For such people, fasting may cause chronic illness. Also it is not to be followed if the person is sick or suffering from an illness. Fasting can only be effective to people who are physically healthy and are strong enough to sustain short periods of food abstinence. It is supposed to be done for short periods. Ideally for 3-5 days in every 2 months. Anything more than that would only worsen the body condition.

    Various Dangers Caused By Fasting: The various side effects of fasting are:

    • Fatigue
    • Irregular heartbeat
    • Anemia
    • Body aches
    • Nausea
    • Dizziness
    • Mental strain
