    How can allergy and insomnia go together. This article will explain why some people with allergies will find it hard to go to sleep. Then we will find out how to treat these conditions, when they are related to each other.

    Insomnia Can be Caused by Allergy

    Allergies can cause insomnia through many different ways. Symptoms of allergies can cause discomfort pain and irritation. When these kinds of ailments are occurring during bedtime, they make proper restful sleep impossible. Here are some examples of different allergies and how they disrupt sleep:

    • Food Allergies
    • Food allergies can be a contributing factor in how sleeplessness occurs. Therefore, if food allergy is causing bloating, hives, indigestion, breathing problems or stomach pain, it is easy to see how it is difficult to find sleep. Discomfort before bedtime because of food allergies is a difficult problem to remedy.

    • Breathable Allergens
    • Different breathable allergens, such as pollen or dust mites, cause problems when it comes to the airways. Therefore, these allergies cause runny nose, congestion and cough. All of these conditions can make it difficult to sleep.

    • Asthma
    • Breathing difficulties due to allergic asthma often occur at night in bed. When this occurs, you are unlikely to be able to fall asleep. This is why the symptoms have to be brought under control in order to get proper rest.

    How to Remedy Allergy Related Insomnia

    The right remedy for allergy related insomnia is chosen according to the type of allergy you are suffering from:

    • Food Allergy
    • The right remedy is to find out what food is causing the symptoms and eliminate it from your diet. If it is not possible to do this completely, try reducing the amount that you eat to levels that your body is better able to withstand.

    • Breathable Allergens
    • For pollen or dust mite allergies, as well as with other breathable allergens, you should try to make your bedroom a germ free zone. The cleaner the air is, the better you will feel. You can use air purifiers, for example, to get rid of excess allergens in the air. It is also advisable to use a mattress, that is sealed in an allergy proof zipper bag, and other allergy proof bedding.

    • Asthma
    • For asthma, the same applies as with the treatment of breathable allergen symptoms described above, when treating allergy related insomnia. Asthma medication is also often required with people suffering from asthma.
