The benefits of normal delivery are that it reduces the post delivery complications. Thus, every women wants to have a normal delivery of a baby. But, number of cesarean cases are increasing day by day due to the stressful life. Ayurveda describes some tips to have a normal delivery by suggesting a nutritious and a balanced diet during pregnancy. These Ayurvedic tips are talked about in this article.
What is a Normal Delivery?
- When a baby is delivered through a mother’s vagina, it is called a normal delivery.
- A child is normally born between the 36th and 39th week of pregnancy.
Ayurvedic Tips for a Normal Delivery
The care of an expected mother during pregnancy is extremely important and this is called Masanumasiki chikitsa in Ayurveda, which means month to month treatment.
According to Ayurveda, every month there s production of different dhatu in the baby’s body. Thus, 9 different groups of foods and herbs are prescribed for each 9 months in Ayurveda for a normal delivery. Some tips that should be followed for a normal delivery are as follows:
- Walking — An expected mother should walk frequently with the first sign of labor.
- Milk — Milk should be taken with garlic from the seventh month onwards. Boil garlic in milk and consume it.
- Anise seeds — From nine months onwards, make a drink by boiling roasted anise seeds in water. This enhances the normal delivery of the baby.
- Pomegranate juice — It should be taken daily as it increases the blood cells of both the mother and the baby. Baby will also have a fair complexion when you drink pomegranate juice.
- At night take a warm water bath. It will help you relax and free from all kinds of strains and stress.
- Honey — During delivery pains, the pregnant women should take a spoon full of honey. Mix honey and black cumin powder and apply this paste over stomach for a normal delivery.
Some herbs that are used for normal delivery are as follows:
- Evening primrose oil — This oil contains prostaglandins and causes ripening of cervix more quickly and thus helps in the normal delivery.
- Red raspberry leaf and False unicorn root can also be used to ripen the cervix.
