    Fast 5 Diet: Frequently Asked Questions – Part I

    Fast 5 diet is a way of eating. It is all about eating within five consecutive hours and fasting for the rest of the hours of the day. Information about the procedure, effects and side effects are illustrated in related articles on the site.     Q) There is 5 hours of ‘Eating window’ for this diet. But is a shorter eating window okay in this diet?

    Answer: Yes. It is okay since fast 5 is designed to be as easy as possible. It is matter of your comfort. If a shorter window fits in your schedule then please go for it. Also it is seen that shortening of the window sometimes improves the long-term benefits of fast 5 diet. It also reduces the time of that insulin level of the fast fiver is elevated above the baseline (fasting baseline).

    Q) What all I can drink during the fasting period?

    Answer: Any liquid that has negligible or zero calorie content can be taken. Water, club soda, flavored water, seltzer water or coffee or tea without sugar are some of the beverages that you can take.

    Q) What should I eat during the eating phase?

    Answer: Decide for all those that comes under healthy diet. Variety of fruits and vegetables that have good fiber content are ideal to have. Proteins sources like fish, eggs are good. Nuts and seed food are also good. In short a balanced diet of carbohydrates, fasts, proteins with no extremes can be taken during the eating phase.

    Q) Can I combine fast 5 diet with low carbohydrate diet like Atkins or South beach?

    Answer: Yes you can. Fat 5 diet can be undoubtedly combined with other diet programs that specify content.

    Q) Can I chew sugarless candy or gum during fasting period?

    Answer: It is not recommended. Thus it is better to avoid. Chewing gums trigger the gut activity and may lead to more hunger.
