    What is Mantra Meditation?

    Mantra Meditation is the safest and easiest form of meditation.It is a famous and age old technique in Tibet and India.This article tries to gain insight on this type of Meditation.

    The Method of Mantra Meditation:

    • Mantra Meditation involves reciting of a sentence or groups of words called the Mantra.
    • A mantra need not have specific meaning on its own.Its power is hidden in the vibratory effects that are produced when the mantra is repeatedly chanted.
    • The selection of the Mantra is generally done by the Master or the guru.
    • The Mantra chosen should be appeal our consciousness when spoken verbally.
    • When the mantra is repeatedly chanted, the energy centers in our body get activated.
    • It is important that we enjoy the whole process of chanting,trance and bliss experienced during the meditation.
    • The common way to practice mantra meditation is using “the Japa”.
    • Japa means repetition which is the basis of Mantra Meditation.The Japa works with the Japa Mala.
    • The Japa mala contains 108 beads in the form of a rosary.It is rotated every time the mantra is chanted mentally during the meditation.

    Role of Japa Mala in Mantra Meditation:

    • It is recommended for the beginners.
    • It helps in concentration of the mind as a tool.
    • It keeps the repetition of the mantra synchronized with the rotation of its beads.
    • It helps to keep a count of the number of repetitions of the mantra.
    • It is important to keep a count of the number of times the mantra is repeated.Over recitation leads to adverse effects on the mind and body.

    The Philosophy of Mantra Meditation:

    • Mantra Meditation is based upon the belief that sound is omnipotent.
    • It is mentioned in the scriptures of many cultures.
    • “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.   New Testament, John1:1-2 “.
    • ” Among rituals, I am the ritual of mantra repetition. Lord Krishna,Bhagvad Gita”.
    • Scientists are also of the opinion that there is a universal vibration reverberating throughout the universe.
